50°C heat can destroy your car. Discover how to protect it from the most common summer breakdowns.
UAE summer reaches 50°C in July and August, with humidity over 90% in coastal areas. These harsh conditions make your car more prone to breakdowns and significantly increase demand for recovery services. Here are 10 tips from our experts to protect your car.
1. Check the battery monthly: heat depletes battery fluid fast. UAE batteries last only 1-2 years vs 4-5 in mild climates. Weakness signs: slow start, dim lights.
2. Monitor the cooling system: always check coolant level and inspect radiator hoses. Engine overheating is among the most common and dangerous summer breakdowns.
3. Adjust tire pressure weekly: heat increases tire pressure and can cause blowouts on highways. Follow the pressure recommended in the owner's manual.
4. Change engine oil on time: heat accelerates oil breakdown. Stick to change intervals, or shorten to every 5,000 km instead of 10,000 in summer.
5. Don't park in direct sun: use shaded parking or sunshades on the windshield. Cabin temperature can reach 80°C, damaging electronics.
6. Service AC before summer: refrigerant, compressor, and filter. AC failure in UAE summer is nearly a medical emergency.
7. Never leave children or pets in a parked car: even for minutes. Interior heat can be fatal within 10 minutes.
8. Carry extra water: for the driver and the radiator. When the engine overheats on the highway, stop immediately and call specialized recovery.
9. Avoid desert driving in regular cars: summer sand is hotter and can melt regular tires. For adventures see our desert recovery guide.
10. Keep a trusted recovery number: a broken-down car in UAE heat is a dangerous situation. At Recovery Emirates our field teams arrive in 15-30 minutes across all seven emirates. Number: 0507245242.
